Juneau knows how to throw a waterfront party. The Juneau Maritime Festival returns Saturday, May 9, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Peratrovich Plaza in downtown Juneau, bringing a free day of music, harbor cruises, food, vendor booths, and maritime fun.

This is one of those spring events that feels made for wandering. Visitors can browse more than 100 vendor booths, enjoy local food and a beer garden, catch free grilled fish tastings, and take in performances and cultural demonstrations right on the water.

The festival also leans into Juneau’s identity as a working waterfront, with a welcoming ceremony featuring One People Canoe Society and the Yées Ḵu.oo Dancers, themed harbor cruises, tug of war, and a U.S. Coast Guard search-and-rescue helicopter demonstration.

For anyone looking for an easy, lively way to spend a Saturday downtown, this is an open invitation. Admission is free.
