☔💅 Sunday’s Got Rain. You’ve Got Coffee.
Memaw’s Arctic Roll for Sunday, July 19, 2026
☕️ Good Sunday morning, neighbors!
If your porch is making that drip…drip…drip soundtrack this morning, don’t worry. That’s just Southcentral reminding us it’s still in charge. Grab the coffee, wave at the neighbor walking their dog in a rain jacket that cost more than the dog, and give yourself a few extra minutes before heading out. Mother Nature packed the highways with rain today, but a little patience still beats a fender bender every time.
🟡 Daily Verdict: Wet Roads, Easy Does It
- Roads: Wet pavement is expected across Southcentral with the greatest travel impacts along the Seward Highway through Turnagain Arm and the Kenai Peninsula where periods of heavier rain and gusty winds are expected.
- Traffic: No major statewide incident closures reported. Construction zones remain the biggest cause of delays.
- Sky: Aurora activity remains low (Kp 2) tonight, and widespread cloud cover will likely limit viewing.
⚠️ Southcentral Watch
Location: Seward Highway through Turnagain Arm
- Status: Rain and gusty winds
- When: Throughout today into tonight
- Why: Moist onshore flow producing periods of heavy rain with stronger winds along the corridor.
- Impact: Reduced visibility, slick pavement, and occasional crosswinds.
💅 Reality Check: This isn’t the day to hurry through Turnagain. Slow down, leave extra space, and let the scenery wait.
