If your windshield starts filing for hazard pay today, don’t argue with it. Southcentral woke up under gray skies, soggy roads, and enough rain to remind us that summer in Alaska sometimes comes with windshield wipers instead of sunglasses. The coffee’s hot, the puddles are deeper than they look, and patience is going to get you to work faster than a lead foot.
🟡 Daily Verdict: Wet Roads. Easy Does It.
- Roads: Widespread rain is creating standing water in places. Flood Watches are in effect for Anchorage and parts of the Kenai Peninsula. Watch for ponding, reduced visibility, and possible rockfall along The Seward Highway.
- Traffic: No major statewide highway closures or significant Alaska 511 incidents affecting normal commuter travel have been reported.
- Sky: Aurora activity remains quiet (Kp 1 to 2) and thick cloud cover will keep most of Southcentral from seeing much of anything tonight.

- When: Monday through Monday evening
- Why: Heavy rainfall on already saturated ground may cause standing water and increase the risk of rockfalls.
- Impact: Slow down through canyon sections and expect extra spray from traffic.
