Memawâs Morning Pep Talk đ
âď¸ Good morning, hon. Today is National No Housework Day, which means if you were planning to vacuum, mop, fold laundry, or wipe fingerprints off the fridge, absolutely not. Memaw is issuing a full household cease-and-desist order on chores.
The official way to celebrate is simple: Leave the housework where it sits, pick up a good book, and share your rebellion on social media with #NationalNoHouseworkDay. Meanwhile, the good news for commuters is most roads across Southcentral are cooperating this morning. Just know the Kenai Peninsula is seeing a rain and snow mix, and Alaska 511 cameras along the Sterling Highway are already showing wet snow mixing with rain. Get where you need to go safely, then get home and commit fully to doing absolutely no housework.
đ˘đĄđ´Â Daily Verdict: Mostly Smooth Roads, Zero Chores Energy
Roads: Mostly clear across Southcentral, though the Kenai Peninsula is seeing a rain and snow mix creating wet and slushy patches along the Sterling Highway
Traffic: Light with no major Alaska 511 alerts reported this morning

Letâs roll! đ¨

â ď¸ Alaska DOT&PF is alerting Glenn Highway drivers to an upcoming bridge preservation project at the Peters Creek Bridges that will bring periodic lane closures and a major traffic shift later this month. Crews with Hamilton Construction have already begun work in the area and drivers should expect single-lane closures and workers in the median and on the bridges as preparation ramps up. Starting April 13, crews will install barriers ahead of a full northbound Peters Creek Bridge closure scheduled to begin April 17. That closure is expected to last about 45 days, weather permitting, with all Glenn Highway traffic temporarily routed onto the southbound bridge during construction. Drivers should slow down, stay alert for changing traffic patterns, and watch for crews and equipment in the work zone. More project details are available at glennbridges.com.

đ Memawâs Parting Words
Todayâs assignment is simple. Drive safely. Get home. Then ignore every chore that tries to guilt you.
Pick up a book.
Start that show you’ve been saving.
Play a board game with the kids.
Build a Lego skyscraper that makes absolutely no sense.
And if someone asks why the dishes are still in the sink, just tell them, âMemaw said itâs a federally recognized holiday for dust bunnies.â đ
Drive alive so you arrive, sugar. Then go celebrate National No Housework Day the right way. đ
