💅 Well good morning, sugar.
If you stepped outside in the Valley and thought, “Why does it sound like my trash can is trying to escape?” You’re not imagining things.
The National Weather Service Wind Advisory is in full swing for the Lower Matanuska Valley, with northeast gusts up to 50 mph expected today. The strongest winds will blow near and north of Palmer, where the Valley likes to turn into its own personal wind tunnel.
Peak winds ramp up this afternoon and hang around into the night before easing by Tuesday morning.
Impacts could include:
- Loose objects blowing around
- Difficult driving for high-profile vehicles
- Isolated power outages
If you’re west of Wasilla, you might dodge the worst of it. But anywhere closer to Palmer, Sutton, or Chickaloon … best hold onto your hat. Current temps hover near 0°F this morning, with highs struggling to reach 9°F.

💨 Memaw’s Parting Words
Alright honey, here’s the takeaway: Arctic air plus Palmer winds to 50 mph equals bundle up and buckle down. Gusts can shove a pickup sideways quicker than you can say “Where’d my trash can go?”
Extra space on the Glenn, both hands on the wheel, secure that garbage bin before it heads for Canada.
☕️ Drive kind, drive patient. Other drivers don’t care if we’re late, but they notice if we’re foolish. And they do post about it on the KGB and Glenn Highway Facebook pages! 💖
