Kaitlyn Kaganak, 28, was found deceased on December 19 at the Basher Trailhead in Anchorage following a police investigation. Anchorage Police say the case remains under investigation and are asking anyone with information to come forward.

Anchorage Police have confirmed the death of 28 year old Kaitlyn Kaganak, who had been reported missing earlier this month.
Police say officers responded at approximately 12:39 p.m. on December 19, 2025, to the Basher Trailhead at 9001 Basher Drive after receiving a report of a deceased individual. Upon arrival, officers located and identified the individual as Kaitlyn Kaganak. Next of kin notifications have been completed.
Kaganak was originally reported missing to the Anchorage Police Department on December 9, 2025, after family members said they had not heard from her and were concerned for her well being. She was last seen on December 1, 2025, in the area of Bragaw Street.
Since the missing person report was filed, Anchorage Police detectives worked the case daily and conducted multiple searches with assistance from K9 units and search and rescue teams.
The case is being investigated as a death investigation. Police say there may be individuals with information related to Kaganak’s disappearance and death who have not yet come forward.
