Missing Since July: Anchorage Police Help Search for Peter Wesley, 51

Peter Wesley has been missing since July 1, 2026, and authorities believe he is in the Anchorage area. The Anchorage Police Department is assisting the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) Missing and Murdered Unit in asking the public for help locating him.

Wesley, 51, was last known to have contact with someone at the Anchorage Gospel Rescue Mission in late September. His case was referred to the BIA by the Oglala Sioux Tribe-Pine Ridge Department of Public Safety in South Dakota.

More than three months have passed since Wesley was reported missing. Anyone who may have seen him, spoken with him, or has information about where he might be is urged to contact investigators. Even a small detail could help authorities determine where he is and whether he is safe.

How to Help

If you have information about Peter Wesley’s whereabouts, contact the Bureau of Indian Affairs Missing and Murdered Unit directly.

You do not need to know exactly where Wesley is to provide potentially useful information. If you recognize him or recall an encounter that could help investigators, please reach out to the BIA Missing and Murdered Unit.

A missing person is more than a case number. Peter Wesley is someone whose whereabouts remain unknown, and information from the public may help bring answers to those searching for him.

Please share this appeal. If you have information, make the call or send the tip. Help authorities find Peter Wesley and determine whether he is safe.

ONE SHARE COULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Indigenous people continue to be disproportionately affected by missing-person cases. FBI data recorded 9,687 entries for missing American Indian and Alaska Native people in 2025, with 1,476 records still active at year’s end. These figures represent records, not necessarily unique individuals. Sharing Peter’s photo could help someone recognize him, recall a chance encounter, and give investigators a vital lead. Please share his photo. Someone, somewhere, may have information that could help bring answers.
