From tiny artists with paintbrushes to costumed thrill-seekers braving haunted woods, Alaska’s October lineup is bursting with creativity, community, and a touch of spooky magic. Here’s what’s happening across the Valley and Anchorage as fall hits its festive stride!


🎨 October 17 | 1–1:30 p.m. | Toddler Time | Wasilla

Location: Paint Nights with Sara, 535 W Parks Hwy
Little hands, big imaginations! This class for kids 5 and under turns playtime into art time. Each pint-sized Picasso needs a grown-up sidekick, so grab a smock and join in the creative fun. Seats are $15. Reserve before the glitter dries!


👻 October 17 | 7:30–9:30 p.m. | Haunted Trail | Goose Lake Park, Anchorage

Anchorage Parks & Rec unleashes the creatures of the forest for two nights of fright! This chilling walk isn’t for the faint of heart (ages 9+), but there are early exits for scaredy cats. Warm up afterward with beach music, food trucks, and fire barrels.

Breakfast, birds, and breathtaking hunts! Join falconers from across the state as they demonstrate hunting with hawks and goshawks on live wild quarry. Wrap up the day with dinner, raffles, and a slideshow of last season’s flights. Dress warm. These hunters mean business!
