💅 Memaw’s Arctic Roll: Southcentral Alaska’s Daily Road & Weather Briefing
Good morning, Alaska! Monday is bringing showers, gray skies and enough moisture to make the windshield work for its paycheck. Anchorage is looking at a high near 53°F, Wasilla near 52°F, Kenai near 53°F, Homer near 54°F, and Seward near 52°F. Tonight brings more showers in much of Southcentral, with patchy fog sneaking into the forecast after midnight.
And because apparently the calendar knew exactly what it was doing, today is Earth, Wind & Fire Day. So yes, we have rain, wind, clouds and a song called September (see the video below). The universe has a sense of humor. 💅🎶

Roads: Wet conditions are the big story this morning. Alaska 511 remains the place to check for live incidents, work zones and changing road conditions.
Traffic: Give yourself extra following distance on wet pavement and watch for reduced visibility if fog develops tonight.
Sky: Quiet aurora activity. UAF is calling for Kp 1 to 2, with Kp 1 returning during the late evening and overnight hours. Cloud cover is the bigger obstacle tonight.

UAF’s Geophysical Institute is calling for quiet activity today.
- Kp 1: Early morning
- Kp 2: From late morning through the evening
- Kp 1: Around 10 PM through 1 AM and into the overnight period
That is not an especially active aurora forecast, and the cloud cover across Southcentral is another obstacle. In other words, don’t cancel dinner because Memaw promised you dancing green skies. 💅
