☕️ Good morning, road warriors! Monday starts out looking downright civilized across Southcentral Alaska. Temperatures are mild, skies are mostly sunny in much of the region, and the morning commute gets a relatively easy pass.
Then the forecast starts changing its mind.
Rain moves into the picture tonight, with clouds thickening across Southcentral. And Tuesday is when Memaw wants you paying attention: NWS has a Wind Advisory beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday for Anchorage, with southeast winds of 15 to 25 mph and gusts potentially reaching 40 to 50 mph. The Kenai Peninsula joins the wind party Tuesday afternoon. 💅

Roads: Mostly favorable for today’s commute, with fog in spots and rain developing tonight. Check Alaska 511 before heading out for the latest incidents and road conditions.

Matanuska and Susitna Valleys – Significant Rainfall
- Status: Rainfall concern developing
- When: Monday evening through Wednesday afternoon
- Where it hits: Willow, Talkeetna and smaller tributaries draining the Talkeetna Mountains
- Why: NWS expects 1 to 3 inches of rain Monday through Wednesday, with the heaviest rainfall through Tuesday evening.
💅 Reality check: NWS says widespread flooding is not expected, but Willow Creek, the Little Susitna and other smaller waterways may reach bankfull. Low-lying areas and gravel bars can get wet fast.

Anchorage – Wind Advisory Starts Tuesday

- When: Tuesday at 7:00 AM through Wednesday at noon

Ready to make something for your wall or bookshelf that is actually yours? Artist xochiyollotl is leading a beginner-friendly ceramic altar and trinket-shelf workshop at the Homer Council on the Arts.
Participants can choose from provided patterns or create their own design. Each small altar can be up to 7 inches wide and 7 inches high, with a maximum depth of 3 inches.
While the clay dries, there will be a 30-minute break with an apple fizz mocktail and light bites, followed by painting with underglazes.
No pottery experience is required, and all supplies are included.
