Anchorage police are asking the public to avoid the 300 block of East 45th Avenue because of a large police presence.

The alert was issued at 11:53 a.m. Friday through the Anchorage Police Department’s emergency notification system. Police have not released details about what prompted the response.

Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to avoid the area and use alternate routes until officers clear the scene.
