The RVs are rolling toward the Kenai. Rental cars are filling scenic pullouts. Campgrounds are waking up. Fishermen are watching river reports. And, somewhere right now, a visitor is discovering that Alaska highways operate on a slightly different schedule than the Lower 48.
The weather is doing its part today. Temperatures are comfortable, daylight is nearly endless, and most roads are in good shape. The bigger story isn’t the forecast. It’s construction season and tourism season sharing the same pavement.
For locals, that means leaving a little extra room between you and the RV ahead.
For visitors, that means learning that when Alaska says “expect a 10-minute delay,” that’s usually considered pretty good news. But, take that potty break before you go! 🚽
