Utqiagvik Schools Delay Start Two Hours Due to Icy Roads

UTQIAGVIK, Alaska — The North Slope Borough School District has announced a two-hour delay for all schools and buses in Utqiagvik on Wednesday, Oct. 28, due to icy, slick road conditions.
In a morning update posted to its official Facebook page, the district said the delayed start gives families and staff additional time amid hazardous travel conditions.
The district also confirmed that Wednesday’s early release is canceled. Schools will dismiss students at their normal times.
Parents and guardians should plan for the two-hour delay and regular afternoon dismissal.
