ANCHORAGE – A man was rushed to the hospital in life-threatening condition after a shooting just after 4:11 a.m. Friday in the 900 block of E. 12th Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found an adult man with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported for emergency treatment. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

It’s one more violent flash in what has been a steady pattern of shootings across Anchorage in recent months. Police data and public incident tracking show multiple shooting cases already this year, including other upper-body gunshot calls that required emergency hospital transport and remain under investigation.
While Anchorage is not in the middle of a historic spike compared to some national years, gun violence has stayed persistent rather than disappearing. In 2025, the city recorded 28 homicides, with about a third linked to domestic violence, underscoring how often these cases stem from personal conflict rather than random attacks.
Even broader data shows the same tension playing out nationally. The U.S. continues to see tens of thousands of shooting deaths each year, even as rates have slowly declined from pandemic-era highs.
Anchorage police say anyone with information about the E. 12th Avenue shooting should contact dispatch at 3-1-1 or (907) 786-8900.
