Anchorage’s one-day electronics drop-off diverts old tech from the landfill.

Municipality of Anchorage Solid Waste Services is inviting residents to clear out their closets and drawers for a one-day electronics recycling event on Friday, June 6.

From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., households can drop off unwanted electronics at the SWS Material Recovery Facility, located across East 56th Avenue from the Central Transfer Station in Anchorage.

The goal is simple. Keep electronics out of the landfill and move recoverable materials into proper recycling streams.

Accepted items include:

  • Computers
  • Laptops
  • Servers
  • Printers
  • Gaming consoles
  • Blu-ray and DVD players
  • Electronic speakers
  • Phones
  • Tablets
  • iLthium batteries
  • Monitors (limit two per household)
  • Small electronic components such as hard drives, circuit boards, and power supplies

Not accepted: light bulbs, string lights, household appliances like microwaves or vacuums, non-electronic speakers, CRT TVs or monitors, and any business or commercial e-waste.

If it still lights up a drawer somewhere, this is the chance to finally unplug it and send it somewhere better than the landfill. 💻
