The rain machine is warming up, though: Showers become increasingly likely today, with a much wetter night ahead.

💅 Memaw’s Parting Words
Well, honey, today Memaw wants you to remember two things: take care of yourself on the road, and take care of somebody else when you can.
It’s National Food Bank Day, and hunger doesn’t always announce itself. It can be the neighbor who smiles over the fence, the coworker who says they’re “not hungry,” or the family quietly stretching groceries until payday. Food banks help bridge that gap, and Alaska has a statewide network doing exactly that.

🥫 If you can spare some groceries, Food Bank of Alaska accepts nonperishable pantry staples, fresh garden produce and commercially processed meat and seafood. Its Anchorage warehouse is at 2192 Viking Drive, with weekday drop-off from 8 AM to 4 PM and exterior donation bins available 24/7.
🥫 There are also community drop-off locations in Anchorage and Wasilla at Allen & Petersen, 990 S. Hermon Road.
💰 You can also give money, volunteer, start a food drive or donate through other options. Food Bank of Alaska says a $25 gift provides 50 meals.
🫶 And if you need food assistance, there’s no shame in asking. Food Bank of Alaska connects people with food pantries, mobile food pantries and community meal sites statewide. Call 2-1-1 for food resources anywhere in Alaska; Anchorage residents can also use the Anchorage food locator, while Fairbanks, Juneau and Kenai/Soldotna have regional food-bank resources.
