💅 Welp. Old man winter decided he wasn’t quite finished with Southcentral Alaska. That’s not news, but this is:
The morning drive may feel fairly calm, but the real weather rolls in later today. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory starting at 3 PM, lining up almost perfectly with the Friday evening commute.
Snow totals are expected to reach 3 to 5 inches, with localized amounts up to 6 inches along the Hillside and Glenn Highway corridor from Eagle River to Palmer. Winds may gust up to 30 mph, which could whip that snow around and cut visibility in a hurry.
The timing is the part that’ll make folks sigh into their coffee cups. Light snow this morning tapers off early afternoon, then a second round arrives mid to late afternoon and continues overnight. In other words, the Arctic Roll may start off as a slow waltz today … but by sunset, it’ll be jitterbugging across the dance floor.

Memaw’s Parting Words 💅
If Alaska winter had a personality, it’d be the neighbor who says they’re leaving the party … then stands in the doorway talking for another hour.
That’s what today feels like.
The morning Arctic Roll is fairly polite, but by tonight the drive may start jitterbugging with falling snow and gusty winds. Take your time, keep your distance, and let the road set the rhythm.
Drive alive from dawn to night, sugar. The rhythm of Alaska always rewards the patient. 🚗❄️
