High winds have forced the temporary closure of the Central Landfill today, December 21. Residents are advised to postpone trips until conditions improve and operations resume.

There is some good news for those managing cleanup projects. Landfill fees are being waived for Construction and Demolition debris for Mat-Su Borough residents through December 23, 2025. Eligible materials include wood, concrete, lumber, furniture, and other non-hazardous construction and household debris.

Residents should also plan ahead for the holiday schedule. All Solid Waste Division locations will be closed on December 24 and December 25.

For updates on reopening times, accepted materials, and location information, visit the Matanuska-Susitna Borough Solid Waste Division website.
