A Wind Advisory is riding shotgun with a soaking round of rain from the Anchorage bowl clear down through Turnagain Arm and onto the Kenai, so this is not the morning to be casual about your following distance. The gusts are the real troublemaker today, not just the puddles, especially if you’re driving anything tall or towing anything wide. 🔴 Daily Verdict: Windy, Wet, and No Time to Multitask

• Roads: A Wind Advisory is in effect across much of Southcentral this morning, with the strongest gusts and heaviest rain bands along the Seward Highway through Turnagain Arm and continuing onto the Kenai Peninsula through the afternoon.
• Traffic: Light with no significant statewide incidents, but active construction zones on the Glenn, Seward, and Sterling Highways will slow you down more than usual with wet footing added in.
• Sky: Kp is forecast at 3 tonight per the Geophysical Institute, but with rain and heavy cloud cover blanketing the region, don’t expect to see a thing.

• Location: Seward Highway through Turnagain Arm, extending south onto the Kenai Peninsula
• Status: Wind Advisory with gusts up to 45 mph, alongside periods of heavy rain
• When: Through midday along Turnagain Arm, continuing into the afternoon on the Kenai Peninsula
• Why: A tight pressure gradient is funneling strong southerly wind through the Arm’s canyon terrain while onshore moisture keeps the rain coming.
• Impact: Crosswinds strong enough to push around high profile vehicles and trailers, sudden reduced visibility in downpours, and standing water in the low spots.

• Pavement Preservation, Stage 1 (MP 85 to 89): expect flagging, pilot cars, and delays up to 20 minutes, with milled asphalt and gravel through the zone. Stay alert on the steep inclines and sharp corners here.

• Rabbit Creek Overcrossing (Brayton Drive, between De Armoun Road and Tradewind Drive): ongoing stairway repairs continue to bring lane closures and delays on this connector.
