π Memaw’s Parting Words
June has arrived, and Alaska is showing off.
The mountains are green, the days are long, and the campgrounds are filling up. The highways are full again, and somewhere in the mix a moose is standing in traffic like it didnβt get the memo.
Be patient with the tourists. They came a long way to see what we get to enjoy every day. π
And if the northern lights decide to make an appearance tonight, pull over somewhere safe, look up, and remember that even after all these years, Alaska still knows how to surprise us.
And a little something extra today for visitors and locals, alike …
β Kachemak Bay Marine Forecast | Homer, Alaska | Tuesday, June 2, 2026

π’ Marine Verdict: Generally Favorable, Keep an Eye on Afternoon Gusts
For boaters, anglers, water taxis, kayakers, and anyone heading out of Homer today, Kachemak Bay is looking relatively cooperative by Alaska standards. NOAA marine forecasts show seas around 2 feet with generally light winds through much of the bay today. Northeasterly winds around 5 to 10 knots are expected, though gusts could reach 25 knots in some locations later in the day.
π Bay Conditions
| Condition | Forecast |
|---|---|
| Seas | Around 2 feet |
| Winds | NE 5-10 knots |
| Strongest Gusts | Up to 25 knots possible |
| Visibility | Generally good |
| Precipitation | Slight chance of showers early |
| Water Conditions | Relatively calm for Kachemak Bay |
π€ Small Craft Outlook
- Homer Harbor departures should encounter manageable conditions this morning.
- Conditions remain much calmer than the rougher Gulf waters outside Kachemak Bay.
- Afternoon gusts could create choppier conditions around exposed points and bay entrances.
- Kayakers and smaller open boats should pay attention to local wind acceleration zones, particularly near Bluff Point and the bay mouth.Β
π£ Fishing Forecast
The weather itself is not likely to be the limiting factor today. Seas near 2 feet and relatively light winds should allow for comfortable travel around much of the bay. As always, conditions can change quickly near the bay entrance and toward Cook Inlet.
π Memaw’s Harbor Talk
Today is one of those days when Kachemak Bay reminds everyone why they bought the boat in the first place.
The water isn’t glass, but it’s behaving itself. The mountains are still showing off. The otters are judging everyone from a distance. And somewhere out there, a bald eagle is about to remind all of us why we still pull over for things with wings.
Not a bad day to be on the bay.
