ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Anchorage police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man who has not been heard from in several weeks and whose family is concerned about his safety.

According to the Anchorage Police Department, 40-year-old Nayuk Leavitt has not been in contact with family members since Feb. 26, 2026. Authorities say there is growing concern for his well-being.

Leavitt is believed to be experiencing homelessness and is known to spend time near the intersection of East 56th Avenue and Old Seward Highway in Anchorage.

Police describe Leavitt as approximately 6 feet tall and about 200 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Those wishing to remain anonymous can submit tips through Anchorage Crime Stoppers online at AnchorageCrimeStoppers.com.

Police note that for someone to be officially removed from missing person status, the department must first be notified that the individual has been located and an officer must then make in-person contact with them. Until then, Leavitt’s family and investigators continue hoping someone recognizes him and comes forward with information that could help bring him safely back into contact with those who care about him.
