❄️ Sun, Ice, and Old Man Winter: Memaw’s Arctic Rock ‘n Roll Commute, March 15, 2026

Old Man Winter isn’t ready to leave just yet: Black ice, bright glare, and a quiet aurora night ahead. Here’s what drivers on Southcentral roads should expect today.

By Gina Hill | Alaska Headline Living | March 2026

☕️ Well now, Southcentral Alaska woke up to one of those sparkling blue-sky Sundays that can fool a person into thinking winter has gone soft.

Don’t buy it, honey. Overnight cold kept the pavement firm, which means bridges, shady corners, and those winding highway curves may still have a slick little surprise waiting.

😎 By afternoon, sunshine should help soften things up a little. But March sun reflecting off fresh snow can blind you like a spotlight at a rock concert. So. Grab your coffee, drop that visor when you need it, and remember: Alaska roads behave best when drivers stay humble. 💅💖

March glare on the highway got you like… MMEB knew the struggle in ’78: Blinded By The Light. 😎🎸

Memaw’s Parting Words

💖 Listen here, sugar.

A bright Alaska sky can make a road look friendly when it’s actually slicker than a buttered skillet underneath. Take the curves easy, leave yourself room to stop, and don’t rush a Sunday drive.

Spring may be flirting with us, but Old Man Winter is still sitting at the kitchen table finishing his coffee. ☕️

Old Man Winter grabbed a chair, poured a cup, and said, “I’ll be staying a while … you might as well get used to it.”

🎶 Old Man Winter loves to overstay his welcome in Alaska, but let’s see how long he sticks around after this little number… Now, here’s a tune to keep you safe on the roads: Drive Safe from Dawn to Night. 💅
