It’s a Perfect Local Legend: A Storm, a Flood, and the Community Mischief that Makes the Internet Snort-laugh.

Three Bears Lake”: Wasilla’s Most Unexpected Waterfront Attraction.

By Gina Hill | Alaska Headline Living | December 2025

Wasilla – Last January, Wasilla residents got a free reminder that nature doesn’t care about your grocery list. After days of relentless rain, the Three Bears Alaska on Knik Goose Bay Road transformed from a routine stop for milk, eggs, and a little cashier side-eye into a full-blown lake. Cars became accidental amphibious vehicles, trapped in water deep enough to make anyone second-guess their decision to drive through it. Employees eventually had to rope off the area to stop stubborn drivers from trying, and failing, to ford the lot.

Naturally, Alaskans don’t panic. We don’t call the mayor. We call, “Who brought the fishing pole?” 🎣 Because when your parking lot floods, you either kayak it, ice-fish it, or make a TikTok before someone gets hypothermia. Somewhere in the chaos, someone with a sense of humor immortalized the moment: “Three Bears Lake” is now a pin on Google Maps, forever marking the spot where Wasilla briefly got a new water feature.

Next time you’re cruising down Knik Goose Bay Road, pull up your map app and check out Wasilla’s most exclusive tourist attraction. You might even leave a Yelp review under “Great view, occasional water feature.” 😀
