💖 Well now, if you stepped outside this morning and your hair immediately filed for independence, that’s the Wind Advisory talking. 🌬️The Lower Matanuska Valley is getting a good ol’ northeast blow, with winds 20 to 30 mph and gusts up to 55 mph aimed straight at Wasilla and the Parks Highway corridor. That means trash cans scooting down the driveway, pickup trucks getting nudged in open stretches, and hairstyles that surrender before you even reach the driveway. The worst of the wind should ease by early afternoon, but it’ll stay breezy into Thursday. So today’s commute is less about ice and more about keeping both hands on the wheel and pretending the wind didn’t just rearrange your hair into an updo.
🟡🔴 Daily Verdict: Yellow Day with a Red-Flag Morning
Roads: 🔴 Early gusts up to 55 mph across the Valley may push vehicles around, especially along the Parks Highway corridor. Conditions ease to 🟡 breezy but manageable by afternoon.
Sky: 🟢 If clouds clear tonight, keep an eye north for a possible northern lights show.

Meet Tundra the Moose 🫎
Memaw’s got a new set of eyes on the highway. Meet Tundra the Moose, our unofficial roadside correspondent and self-appointed expert on Alaska bad hair days. When the wind kicks up across the Valley, Tundra is usually standing somewhere near the road watching us drivers go by, quietly inspecting both our driving and our choices. Now she’ll be weighing in right here with a little roadside wisdom of her own. If your hair looks like it lost a fight with the wind, Tundra’s got advice, though most of the time her recommendation is simple: Put on a hat and accept your fate. 🫎

💖 Memaw’s Parting Words
Alright sugar, take it easy out there today. Those Valley winds may do a number on your hair, but they don’t get to do a number on your driving. Keep both hands on the wheel through those gusty stretches and give yourself a little extra space on the roads.
And one more Alaska reminder before you head home tonight. Watch those shoulders for moose. This time of year they like to wander right where the pavement’s warm, especially once the evening cools down.
If you spot one near the road, slow down and give them plenty of space. And if you see headlights flashing from an oncoming driver, that’s usually the Alaska signal that moose may be up ahead, so ease off the gas and keep your eyes on those dark shoulders.
And if the moose you see looks like she’s standing there judging your driving and your wind-styled ‘do … well, that might just be Tundra doing her roadside inspection. 🫎
Drive safe, keep the shiny side up, and if the clouds clear tonight, step outside and look north. After a blustery Alaska day, the sky sometimes rewards us with a little northern lights glow. 💚
