A Tiny Gallery With a Big Heart at The Clocktower

Just inside the entrance to The Clocktower in Wasilla sits one of the sweetest little surprises in town: an Art Cache.

Built like a tiny brick gallery with its own clocktower, miniature walls, and wee display easels, it invites passersby to slow down and look. Inside are small, original works: drawings, paintings, and creative bits made by members of the community.

The idea is like a Tiny Library, but for art. Take a piece that makes you smile, leave a piece of your own, or simply enjoy the miniature exhibition. No admission, no intimidating gallery atmosphere, and no need to be an art critic. Just a small space making room for imagination, whether you’re big or small.

There’s something especially lovely about finding it in such an ordinary, in-between place, right where people are arriving for lunch, shopping, or a quick stop at The Clocktower. It turns an entrance into a little moment of discovery and reminds us that art does not need a grand opening or a white-walled gallery to matter.

I happened to spot it on my way to lunch at Carina’s, where the spicy Bloody Mary came with an impressively ambitious garnish skewer: olives, a jalapeño, rosemary, and a slider. But as memorable as that lunch was, the Art Cache was the real find.
