Winter Storm Warning in Effect as Snow and Wind Test Tuesday Commutes

By Gina Hill | Alaska Headline Living | January 2026

Good morning, babies. Memaw’s got the kettle on and the warning lights flashing. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning and it is the real deal. Heavy snow, poor visibility, and slick roads from Anchorage through the Mat-Su. This storm kicked off early this morning and sticks around until noon Wednesday. That light, powdery snow will blow right back across the road the second you think you can see. Slow down, plan extra time, and if you can wait, wait.
