Teachers take the stage ready to tell it all, the funny, the heartfelt, and the unforgettable moments that make education what it is. 📸 Teacher Tales
Anchorage is getting a night of stories that sound like they belong in a sitcom, a heartwarming film, and a group chat all at once.

On April 29 at 6 PM, current and former educators from the Anchorage School District will take the stage for “Teacher Tales,” an evening built around one simple idea. Teachers have stories worth hearing, and they are finally getting the mic.
The event will be held at Bear Tooth Theatrepub, a longtime Anchorage favorite known for its laid back vibe and community-centered events.
This is not a formal panel or stiff award ceremony. It is storytelling. Real moments from real classrooms, art rooms, backstage spaces, kitchens, and even the occasional unexpected workplace like the top of a telephone pole. The point is simple. Teaching is unpredictable, brave, and often hilarious.
Organizers say the night is about more than entertainment. It is about connection. The stories are meant to highlight courage in education while building understanding, care, and a sense of belonging across the community, one story at a time.
Expect a lineup that includes educators sharing moments that are funny, inspiring, awkward, emotional, and sometimes all of the above. Featured storytellers include Duke Russell, Leah Maltbie, Marcus Wilson, Elizabeth Hancock, Brian Lyke, Susanna Mishler, Larissa Wright-Elson, and Cara Nelson.
