💅 Well sugar, spring has officially arrived in Alaska, even if the snowbanks are still hanging around like they missed the memo. Roads across Southcentral are behaving themselves today, daylight keeps stretching longer, and the Alaska 511 board is staying pleasantly quiet. Glenn Highway commuters should keep an eye out, though. Periodic lane closures are happening at the Peters Creek Bridges as crews prep for the northbound closure starting April 17.
Temperatures are creeping into the upper 30s across much of the region, which means typical early-spring melt during the day and a touch of refreeze after sunset. Nothing unusual for Alaska drivers, just enough to keep those springtime instincts sharp.
If the clouds thin tonight, the sky might reward night owls with a little northern lights shimmer.🌌
🟢🟡🔴 Daily Verdict: Easy Cruise with a Northern Lights Bonus
Roads: Mostly clear with typical early-spring melt patches
Traffic: Light with no major Alaska 511 incidents reported
Sky: Partial clearing tonight could allow a glimpse of the aurora

‼️Heads up, Glenn Highway drivers! Hamilton Construction crews are working on bridge deck preservation at the Peters Creek Bridges, with periodic single-lane closures as they prep the northbound bridge. Starting April 13, barriers will go up, and the northbound bridge will fully close for about 45 days starting April 17 (weather permitting). During the closure, all traffic will shift to the southbound bridge, so expect delays and watch for crews in the median and on the bridges. 💅 Memaw’s Parting Words
Spring in Alaska is a funny thing. One minute the sun feels warm coming through your windshield, the next minute a shady curve reminds you winter is still packing up.
Yet, days like this are a gift. Roads behaving, sunshine peeking through, and a sky tonight that might just decide to dance. 💖
Take the easy miles when Alaska gives them to you. And if the sky turns green tonight, step outside and enjoy the show. ✨
