Memaw’s Arctic Roll for Saturday, March 14, 2026
By Gina Hill | Alaska Headline Living | March 2026
☕️ Good morning, sugar. Step outside and that Arctic blast hits you right in the lungs because Southcentral Alaska is locked in a stubborn deep freeze. Temperatures tumbled well below zero overnight in the Mat-Su and interior valleys, with some spots dipping to -10 to -15°F. Even Anchorage is waking up far colder than a typical mid-March Saturday. 🧊
🥧 And today is Pi Day, March 14, 3.14, the famous number that keeps every circle honest. Memaw may not be baking a pie at this hour, but the roads are serving up their own icy slice of reality.
Cold like this makes roads tricky. Snow is dry and crunchy, but shaded curves, bridges, and intersections are polished ice patches hiding in plain sight. Add low March sun glare and you have two troublemakers working together.
So bundle up, drive smart, and let’s roll the highways to see what today’s Arctic commute has in store.
