Mostly Clear Roads, Longer Light & a Birthday Worth Slowing Down For 💅🎂

Memaw’s Arctic Roll: Saturday, April 11, 2026

By Gina Hill | Alaska Headline Living | April 11, 2026

Alright now, sugar. This is one of those Alaska days that looks easy and mostly is. Roads are in good shape across Southcentral, but early morning fog is hanging around in spots, especially in low-lying areas, so give yourself a little extra space and don’t trust visibility at a glance. Temperatures are hovering right where they like to play tricks, and what’s wet this afternoon can turn slick on you before you make it back home.

Daylight’s stretching nice and long, giving you a little breathing room on the drive. Just don’t waste it rushing because right now, burning extra gas to save a minute just doesn’t make sense.

And before we go one mile further …

🎉 Happy Birthday, Mey! 🪅

The kind of cook that doesn’t just feed people … you ruin them for everyone else. And Memaw says it plain and proud! Your restaurant already has its name picked out:

“Mey I Have Sum More?” 😍

Mey celebrates another trip around the sun! Still the heart of every table, still the reason nobody leaves hungry, and still the inspiration behind Memaw’s favorite phrase,: “Mey I Have Sum More?!” 🎂💅

If love had a flavor, it’d come out of your kitchen. Memaw still says the only problem with your cooking is … there’s never enough of it! 💖

“Mey I Have Sum More?”
Sweetie, you already know the answer! 😍🥰

🟢🟡🔴 Daily Verdict: Good Grip Overall, Timing Matters More Than Speed
Roads: Mostly clear with refreeze risk by evening
Traffic: Light and moving easy
Sky: Aurora possible, clouds may play hard to get

Regional Snapshot (NOAA/NWS)
Anchorage: 36°F / 25°F
Mat-Su: 38°F / 23°F
Kenai: 34°F / 26°F

Early Morning Conditions Note (Southcentral Alaska)

• Glenn Highway (Knik & Matanuska River Bridges): Patchy to dense fog reported this morning, reducing visibility in low-lying river corridors and bridge approaches. Expect sudden visibility drops and damp pavement in shaded sections.

• Anchorage Bowl: Widespread light fog and haze in spots early this morning, especially near the inlet and lower elevations. Conditions should gradually improve as daytime heating builds.

• Travel Impact: Slow down early, increase following distance, and watch for moisture lingering on bridges even after fog lifts.

Aurora Kp: 3
Cloud Cover Tonight: Increasing clouds, but some breaks possible inland.
