After three days of hurricane-force winds across the Mat-Su Valley, approximately 1,508 Matanuska Electric Association (MEA) members remain without power, MEA reported early Tuesday morning. With wind gusts finally easing, crews are making progress, safely reaching areas that were previously inaccessible.

MEA crews are actively working on outages in multiple neighborhoods. Areas currently affected include North Thor Road and North Robin Lane, Glenn Highway and E 58 Mile Road corridor, N Pine Drive, Canyon Drive, E Moose Wallow Avenue, E Scott Road, Wright Way, Carrol Drive in Sutton, S Seward Meridian Parkway, and several Palmer Fishhook neighborhoods. Repair teams are removing trees from lines, rehanging downed wires, and replacing broken poles to restore service safely.

At the peak of the storm, power outages affected roughly 17,000 to 20,000 members across the valley. While restoration efforts are accelerating as conditions improve, some areas may remain without power for several more hours as crews navigate storm-related damage and debris.

The National Weather Service continues to maintain a High Wind Warning for the Mat-Su Valley through Tuesday morning. Wind gusts are expected to taper off this afternoon, but residents should remain aware of lingering hazards, including cold temperatures, residual gusts, and storm debris.

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough continues to coordinate emergency services, including shelters for residents without heat or electricity. Officials encourage everyone to stay informed through the MEA outage map, local government alerts, and NWS updates until full restoration is complete.

MEA emphasizes that safety remains the top priority for both repair crews and residents. Anyone still without power should prepare for cold and windy conditions and avoid approaching downed power lines or debris.

For live updates on power outages, visit the MEA Outage Map or call their dispatch office. Residents should also monitor the NWS Mat-Su Forecast for the latest weather information and follow borough communications for ongoing guidance.
