🚙💨 Memaw’s Arctic Roll: Summer Still Has the Wheel 😎

Memaw’s Arctic Roll for Thursday, July 9, 2026

☕️ Well now… it’s July 9. Fireweed’s blooming, the salmon are running, and somewhere a pumpkin spice fan just whispered, “Soon.” 🍂😂 Don’t panic. We’ve still have plenty of Alaska summer left, even if Mother Nature is serving today’s sunshine with a side of showers.

If you’re heading out this morning, grab the coffee, grab the rain jacket, and maybe leave the flip-flops for another day. Around here, “summer” sometimes just means the mosquitoes are wearing little raincoats.

Let’s see what the roads have in store.

🟡 Daily Verdict: Keep the coffee hot and the wipers on. The commute is a manageable one.

  • Roads: No major statewide closures reported. Wet pavement is likely in many Southcentral locations as showers develop today.
  • Traffic: Generally light. Ongoing highway construction continues in several work zones. Slow down where crews are present.
  • Sky: Cloudy with scattered showers today. Aurora viewing is expected to be poor tonight due to widespread cloud cover, even though geomagnetic activity remains quiet.
