🚨 MISSING AT 13: MAT-SU FAMILY PLEADS FOR HELP TO BRING KAI HOME NOW

By Gina Hill | Alaska Headline Living | April 10, 2026

A mother in the Mat-Su Valley is asking her community to stop, look, and help bring her child home. Augusta Fleming says her 13-year-old child, Kai, has been missing for days. The hours are adding up, and with them, the fear no parent should have to carry.

Kai was last seen around 11:00 p.m. on April 5. Sometime between 1:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. on April 6, Kai left home. It has now been four days with no confirmed sightings.

Law enforcement is involved. Alaska State Troopers and local police are actively searching. But in Alaska, especially across the wide stretches of Palmer, Wasilla, and the surrounding Mat-Su Valley, community awareness does make the difference.

Augusta is clear about the urgency. She believes Kai may be at risk.

Description of Kai:

  • Age: 13
  • Height: 5 feet 5 inches
  • Weight: about 140 pounds, medium build
  • Hair: shoulder-length brown
  • Eyes: blue
  • Identifying features: freckles, scars on arms and legs, drawings on arms including stars and cats
  • Last known clothing: possibly a black hoodie or black T-shirt with pajama pants. Prints may include Strawberry Shortcake, Hello Kitty, or Eggo waffles. Footwear is unknown

This is where the public comes in.

If you are in Palmer, Wasilla, or anywhere in the Mat-Su Valley, slow down and look around you. Check the places you pass every day without thinking. Roadsides. Trails. Parks. Store parking lots. Neighborhoods. Bus stops. Anywhere a young teen might walk, hide, or seek shelter.

If something feels off, trust that instinct.

If you see Kai or have any information, call Alaska State Troopers immediately at 907-352-5401 and reference case number AK26030149. Even small details matter.

For Augusta, this is not just a post. It is her child.

“A piece of my heart is out in this world in harm’s way,” she wrote. “I just want him safe.”

Share this. Talk about it. Keep your eyes open.

In a place as connected as Alaska, someone always knows someone. That one share, that one glance, that one call could be what brings Kai home.

Kai is still out there. Keep looking, keep sharing, and help bring this 13-year-old home.
