MEA Reports Updated Outage in KGB Area: Cause Identified

The Matanuska Electric Association (MEA) has updated its report on the earlier power outage affecting the KGB and S Vine Rd area.
- The outage initially impacted approximately 2,000 members, but crews have now isolated it to about 560 members in the Hallie Drive area.
- The cause has been identified: a towing company accidentally struck a guy wire, breaking a utility pole and bringing down power lines.
- Crews are on-site making repairs, and the outage is expected to last several more hours while work is completed.
MEA advises residents in the affected area to stay safe and check on neighbors, particularly those who may be more vulnerable. Updates will be shared as soon as more information becomes available.
