Thurman Reed Sentenced to 15 Years for Dangerous Drug Trafficking

Authorities say that Reed continued trafficking large quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine and other narcotics despite having seven prior felony convictions, putting the community at serious risk. Court records show that in early- and mid-2024 he sold multiple controlled buys of fentanyl analogues, methamphetamine, and heroin, culminating in a May 2024 raid that recovered over 10 kilograms of pure methamphetamine, 245 grams of fentanyl, 485 grams of heroin, and 15 grams of cocaine; investigators also seized a firearm at his residence. Department of Justice
Reed pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison.

“Mr. Reed was clearly undeterred by his seven prior felony convictions and chose to stockpile and distribute large quantities of dangerous drugs in Alaska, putting our communities at significant risk. My office is resolute in its commitment to target and prosecute drug traffickers for the crimes that are devastating our communities.” – Michael J. Heyman, U.S. Attorney, District of Alaska
