Memaw’s Arctic Roll for Monday, May 25, 2026
Well, sugar. Memorial Day rolled into Southcentral looking cute and harmless with sunshine, dry roads, and mountain views for days. 💅 Then Alaska immediately added bridge construction, pilot cars, campers, fishing traffic, RV convoys, and half the state trying to leave town at once.
The Glenn is squeezing everybody onto one bridge near Eagle River while crews work the northbound side. The Sterling is running flaggers, utility crews, and pilot cars near MP 45-47. Translation? The vibes are good. The patience test is real.
Still, NOAA says today brings mostly cooperative skies and decent driving conditions for most major corridors. Roads stay mainly dry. Visibility looks solid. And tonight? The aurora forecast stays low-key, but inland spots could still catch a faint little green glow if clouds stay out of the way. Not a blockbuster. More like the northern lights peeking around the corner to see if summer’s ready yet. 💚
🟢🟡 Daily Verdict: Sunshine, Slowdowns & Memorial Day Road Trip Energy
Roads: Mostly dry with construction bottlenecks on Glenn and Sterling corridors
Traffic: Heavy holiday traffic with campers, trailers, RVs, and tourist slowdowns statewide
Sky: Bright daytime weather with a small late-night aurora gamble inland

💅 Memaw’s Parting Words
💖 Southcentral got the deluxe Memorial Day package today. Sunshine. Mountain views. Dry roads. And traffic absolutely everywhere.
Take it easy through the Glenn bridge squeeze. And maybe give the RVs a little extra room before somebody turns a campground trip into a roadside group project.
If traffic suddenly stops, it’s probably one of three things: A moose, a photo stop, or somebody making bold life choices with a trailer.
Enjoy the sunshine, hon. Summer’s finally starting to flirt back. ☀️ And hon, be sure to drive alive from dawn to night 🎶
