Thanksgiving Day Earthquake

Willow, AK – November 27, 2025 – A magnitude 6.2 earthquake shook 26 miles southwest of Willow at 8:11 AM AKST, according to the Alaska Earthquake Center. The quake struck at a depth of 52 miles, sending tremors across the Mat-Su Valley.
Residents in Wasilla, Palmer, and surrounding areas reported feeling strong shaking. No injuries or major damage have been confirmed so far.
Seismologists say quakes of this size can be felt over a wide area, though deeper quakes often produce less intense surface shaking. The Alaska Earthquake Center is monitoring for aftershocks.
